Week 6 Q&A in the #Gamebag

Week 5 of College Football is already in full swing.  Week 4 brought just a couple of questions so I started make notes about each game via my ‘read’ in the CFBMatrix trends.  Folks seemed to like the random ramblings so I’ll keep it up until you get sick of it.  Hard to do this whole thing some days.  I want to continue to have everyone be able to ask me to interpret how I see any outcomes, bets, odds, etc.  While they are just my opinions in reading the tea leaves of The College Football Matrix, I think it can aid in understanding what it is all about.

Rumbling and grumblings Oct 5

  • No surprise that Pitt was favored at the start of the week on the road at Syracuse.  The Cuse coaching staff has 1 upset home win over a more talented team in the last 2 years.  Pitt is more talented.  Now they are the road dogs.  Better team, better talent but on the road.  Really like Pitt to get the W.  Marrone is 1-8 against better talent so far.
  • Oregon under Chip Kelly is 36-2 against teams with less talent on CFBMatrix paper.   Washington has less talent coming into this game.  Sarkisian is weakest on the road with few upset wins. A competitive loss would be solid for the outgunned Huskies
  • BYU, in the Matrix, should smoke USU.  Especially at home.  They got the Matrix Trinity on their side.  If they don’t cover and it’s on your card, I would be pissed.  they have every advantage and less than a 6 point game?

Kevin Mitchem - EA Sports simulator has Georgia losing 28-14 to South Carolina Saturday. How accurate do you think that is?

I am not a ‘score’ predictor guy, but that doesn’t mean I cannot have an opinion via the matrix metrics.  FWIW I feel that with 65 games, someone is going to get close on a few scores.  In the SC/UGA game I don’t see enough advantages to make this anything but a coin flip for the winner.  These two teams are very close, with the talent check mark with Georgia.  Play ten times, I can’t see these guys being that far apart. I expect low to mid twenties decided in the last 5 minutes. But again, I’m not a score guy, I am a win/loss guy. – Bartoo

Michael Pesesky - Vegas realizes #TexasTech hasn’t played anyone, right? That line is absurd. Am I wrong? #Oklahoma

You are not wrong MP.  The talent gap is big and TT hasn’t played anyone.  Folks are being emotional on the undefeated start by the Red Raiders and the loss at home to the immortal Dr. Snyder.  I had this on my early board this week, but took it off due to the road trip for the Sooners.  If your numbers say ‘play’ on the Sooners, I have no arguments against it.  Win it!
