Everybody loves an upset. Little ones, big ones, anything. So each week I will profile, what I see in the CFBMatrix numbers, as the best upset potentials of the week. These ARE NOT all my premium picks in Best Bets. They all go against Vegas and their favorites to win.
I will be on radio stations all over the country every week during football season to go over these upsets, talk some real picks for best bets during the week and go over any games that the CFBMatrix already pick the winner back in March. If I am not scheduled to be on your favorite station, do like Jim Rome says, and bang your monkey.
In no particular order here are some games to watch for possible upsets in week 1 of college football.
1. Tulsa at Iowa State. Tulsa is the favorite by a small margin. But they have less talent and on the road against one of the best game coaches in football. Iowa State to cover the 1.5 and win. My favorite pick of week 1 by far!
2. Auburn the dog against Clemson. 3.5 points to the Tigers? I would say this is a pick’em at best. Coach Chizik has been under rated and the Tigers have more talent than Clemson. Auburn not only covers but wins.
3. Kentucky at Louisville. The Cardinals are over a 5:1 favor to beat the Wildcats at home. But Kentucky’s talent is not too far off from Louisville and Coach Strong is awful at home in the Matrix. Wildcats go on the road and ruin the Cardinals season in Game 1. This is my favorite ‘long shot’ in week 1.
I am not too high on may other upsets in week 1. Target FCS teams with a lot of returning starters and weak FBS with new coaches and/or few returning experienced players.
